Beverage Planning: Are you planning a full bar?  Would you prefer a limited bar with Beer, Wine and a Specialty Drink? Or would several non-alcoholic beverages satisfy you? Planning and anticipating your beverage needs for an event is half the battle. The amount of punch or number of cocktails or beers a guest will drink varies. Allow for the length of the party, the strength of the beverage, the day of the week, the season, the known favorites of your guests, or lack thereof, and adjust your figure accordingly. Begin by estimating that your guests may consume 1 drink per hour. Some will drink less and some may drink more.

Click for beverage planning chart, as a guide to help plan the beverages for your special event. If your’re not planning a full bar with a champagne toast, adjust the numbers accordingly. For a sit-down dinner, increase the wine estimates. Keep in mind that for each bottle of spirits, you will need three containers of mixers – club soda, tonic, soft drinks, juice and so on.
